Lyme Disease – A Silent Epidemic
As an integrative medical doctor with a special interest in chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and fibromyalgia, I was stunned several years ago when I started testing some of my most chronically unwell CFS patients for tick-borne illness after being introduced to the concept at one of my conferences. I was aware of its incidence in the U.S., but was not familiar with its incidence throughout Australia. Dr Tania Ash reports.
Being Curious – The Touch Therapy Researcher
Peter Mackereth shares his journey of becoming ‘curious’ about the effects of touch therapies on mind and body, and encourages us to investigate and explore these interventions.

Indifference In An Uncaring World
Have we raised the threshold of our indifference so high that we no longer feel outraged and horrified by what is happening in the world? Can yoga reignite sensitivity, feeling and kindness? Jen Schrader looks into this seemingly increasing phenomenon of not caring.

Working With The Feet – An Ancient Art of Healing

You may not be aware, but the practice of working with the feet to improve wellbeing has been in existence for thousands of years, if not since the beginning of recorded time.  In the first of two articles, Sonia Bailey looks at the roots of this practice through to the development of what we know today as Reflexology.

Coming Out – An Art In Itself
Many Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transexual and Queer (LGBTQ) individuals realise their sexual identity during puberty, however the question remains why do so many individuals still face such difficulty in coming out? The resulting impact on mental health continues to be an on-going problem within the LGBTQ community with higher rates of anxiety, depression, abuse and self-harm when compared to the rest of the population. At 34 years of age Sonia Friedrich finally came out and feels she lost 10 years of her life by not coming out sooner, a choice she delayed because of her anticipation about being disowned by her family. Despite this, the time came to honour all of who she was because she could no longer live her life as a lie. For the first time in years she felt the relief of being true to herself.

Shadows Under The Blood Red Rock
“Shadows Under the Blood Red Rock was created as an exploration of Australia. I gravitate frequently toward the dark psyche in the topics I explore with my art, because it is here that I feel I am safe to explore, to report and to fight back.” Lawrence Finn, Artist and Printmaker

So Where’s My Happy Ever After?
Do you remember having your mother or father (or some other adult) read you fairy stories when you were a little girl? Do you remember the moment, just before the end, when your Mum would pause, take a breath and read “… and they all lived happily ever after?” Following is a book extract from So Where’s My Happy Ever After by Joy Aimee.
